Author: A 27-year-old man was drunk and driving more than 100 mph moments before he crashed into a vehicle in Rochester, according to charges filed Thursday in Olmsted County District Court.  The deadly drunk-driving crash happened Dec. 19, 2020 near the intersection of 18th Avenue Northwest and Crimson Ridge Drive around 9 p.m. A criminal complaint accuses Matthew R. Shaver, of Rochester, of speeding southbound on 18th Ave. NW in a Jeep Wrangler at 107 mph just two seconds before he rear-ended a Toyota Corolla.

He pleaded guilty to the felony count in December through a plea deal that resulted in the dismissal of a second-degree assault charge.
