Griffiths Island & Warrnambool Breakwater Closed Due To Damage
The Warrnambool Breakwater and boat ramp have been temporarily closed to the public after the historic structure was damaged during rough weather over the weekend.
All staircases to the top walkway are closed off, with some sections of the stainless steel kick rail hanging loose.
“Once the weather is more favourable, Council staff will make a more detailed assessment of the damage before we develop a program of repairs,” Council’s Director City Infrastructure David Leahy said.
“We’re hopeful that by the end of the week we’ll have a clearer picture of the work that is required, the unfortunate reality is that the Breakwater could be closed for a number of weeks ....
