Rural Day County residents may find themselves without an ambulance service at the end of the year if an agreement isn’t reached between the Day County Commissioners and Christensen Ambulance Service.  Mark Christensen has owned the service in Day County for the last 42 years.  This year he has asked the county commission for $50,500 to provide emergency ambulance service to the residents of the county and city of Webster, but he said, the commissioners have told him they will not be renewing the contract……

Christensen Ambulance service currently provides coverage to Day County’s 1,027 square miles with five ambulances.  They average over 400 calls for service each year.  Christensen says his service, like many others across the country are struggling to stay in business…… ....
