First sod turned on Riverfront Activation project
Works to upgrade Horsham’s riverfront pathways are set to be completed within the next 12 months, after Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack turned the first sod on Monday to start construction on the first of the region’s much-anticipated Riverfront Activation projects.
Horsham Rural City Council successfully applied for both state and federal government to enhance and activate the Wimmera River Precinct and its link to the Central Activity District of Horsham.
“We appreciate the Commonwealth Government’s contribution of $1.65 million and also the Victorian Government grant of $500,000. Council is contributing funding of $850,000 towards this first stage,” Mayor Robyn Gulline said. ....

Roadmap for Irymple’s future open for final public comment
Mildura Rural City Council has released its 15-year blueprint for the future of the thriving Irymple township.
The Irymple Structure Plan and Urban Design Framework 2021-2036 (the plan) is now in its final stage of public consultation, revealing some of the key themes to come out of previous rounds of community consultation, as well as the proposed roadmap for Irymple’s future.
The plan focuses on the area bounded by Sandilong and Morpung Avenues and Fourteenth and Sixteenth Streets.
It aims to guide future changes to land use as well as addressing future community needs in terms of housing, social services and public spaces. ....

2021 Community Satisfaction Survey now open at Mildura
Mildura Rural City Council’s annual Community Satisfaction Survey is one of the easiest and most effective ways for the community to let us know their thoughts on the services, facilities and programs we provide each year.
This year’s survey opens tomorrow Monday 3 May, providing four weeks for residents take part and provide their feedback.
Residents can take the survey in a couple of different ways.
Online
The survey can be taken online by visiting Council’s Have Your Say page at mildura.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay
Hardcopy
Hard copy surveys can be picked up from Council’s Madden Avenue or Ouyen Service Centres, or by calling 5018 8100. ....

Horsham Rural City Council’s draft 2021-2022 Budget and supporting documents are out for community consultation for the next six weeks.
While much of the discussion centres on rates, I wanted to highlight a part of the budget process that is crucial to the ongoing success of our community groups.
Council’s annual Community Grants and Donations Program is factored into the budget and provides local organisations with $440,527 in funding.
In 2021, there has been an additional $50,000 allocated from Council’s COVID support package from last year’s budget.
This has meant more funds available to support groups such as sports clubs, halls, kindergartens to assist with their maintenance and facility improvements as well as grants for specific projects and events. ....
