Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks is dedicating the summer of 2021 to the memory of 13-year-old King Douglas, who was shot and killed last month allegedly by a 12-year-old boy. Alsobrooks said the killing is part of a growing national trend in juvenile crime, worsened by a lack of positive alternatives under COVID-19 restrictions.

(PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md.) A 12-year-old boy from Washington, D.C., has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy, police announced Monday.
The 12-year-old, who is charged as a juvenile, is accused of shooting and killing 13-year-old King Douglas in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the Prince George’s County Police Department said.
Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shopping center for a reported stabbing. They found Douglas outside with a gunshot wound.
Douglas, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, died at the scene, police said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said they do not believe this was a random shooting.

A Prince George s County community is mourning after a 13-year-old was shot to death by a 12-year-old over the weekend.
CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. - A Prince George’s County family gathered Monday night to grieve for a 13-year-old child killed in a weekend shooting.
Monday night, family and friends were joined by county leaders for a vigil.
Ja’Ka McKnight, King’s mother, said she dropped her son off at Dave and Busters Saturday evening, never realizing it would be the last time she’d see him alive.
