It is haunting to think that, one day, someone may have to give him the same advice his father got about surviving encounters with police. According to polling from pew research, 84% of blackadults said in dealing with police, black people are generally treated less fairly than whites. A substantial majority of white adults, 63%, agreed. The polling was down in 2019, before the killings of george floyd, breonna taylor, ahmaud arbery, and, of course, daupt wright. But the perception was there in 2019 and it s been there for generations. And so has the reality.
