Kilkenny County Council should apply for funding for projects to help revitalise County towns and villages after Covid-19, according to Fine Gael TD, John Paul Phelan. .
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, announced earlier this week that €15 million is to be made available through The Town and Village Renewal Scheme. The closing date is mid-July.
Deputy Phelan said: “ I’m delighted that my colleague, Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has made this funding available to help rural communities in  Kilkenny  - making them more attractive places to live, work, socialise and raise a family. ....

A Kilkenny councillor is appealing to the people of Kilkenny to take responsibility for their litter and dog poo and stop expecting other people to pick up after them.
Cllr Maria Dollard said that complaints about litter and pollution, form the greatest issue she deals with on a week to week basis.
The Green Party councillor works closely with a variety of voluntary groups, either actively collecting litter with Keep Kilkenny Beautiful or supporting other voluntary groups like ‘Lets get Ireland Clean and Green”. ....

A world class Kilkenny water sports hub looks a step closer following confirmation of a funding boost from Government today.
Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin and Fáilte Ireland have announced a major new investment worth €19 million.  The funding will be used to build world-class facility centres at 22 locations across the country, including Kilkenny.
The significant increase in people enjoying outdoor water-based activities such as kayaking, surfing, paddle-boarding and open water swimming is expected to continue to grow year on year, and not just during the summer months.  This means all-weather changing facilities, secure storage and bathrooms at beaches and inland water spots will be in huge demand. ....
