Wicked Local KINGSTON – With nearly double the votes at the polls Saturday, Ken Moalli will be collecting taxes in Kingston going forward. In unofficial voting, Moalli received 491 votes to 236 votes for Jessica Kramer in the race to become Kingston’s next collector of taxes. In a race between two newcomers running to serve on the Kingston School Committee, Megan Cannon received 426 votes to 168 for Katina Bedard. Silver Lake Regional School Committee appointee Emily Davis was chosen by voters to complete the last two years of a three-year term with 345 votes to 188 for Emma Rose Morgan. Leslie-Ann McGee was re-elected, uncontested, 475 votes. ....

Wicked Local KINGSTON – The vote they took wasn’t what they expected it to be, leading to a second unanimous vote that puts the Kingston Elementary and Intermediate schools on target to open for full-time in-school learning Monday, March 22. The original plan was to survey parents on school choice. Kingston School Committee members agreed Thursday, Feb. 18, to reconsider their vote of Feb. 8 that included contingencies for reopening March 22 and instead approved a stripped-down version of the original vote so there would be no doubt about their decision. The conditions were removed. School Committee member Sheila Vaughn proposed a full in-person return with a remote option for kindergarten through sixth grade starting March 22. Commitment letters will go out to families on a per-student basis. ....
Wicked Local KINGSTON – The Kingston Elementary and Intermediate schools are expected to return to school full time starting Monday, March 22. Whether the children attend school five days a week at the start of the new term depends in large part on a commitment by parents and guardians to drive their children to school. The Kingston School Committee voted unanimously, 5-0, Monday night to approve the full-time, in-person return with conditions attached. It’s approved as a short-term goal based on several contingencies. School Committee Chairman Eric Crone said a survey will go out to families soon to determine whether a majority of parents prefer a full return and will commit to transporting their children for the remainder of the school year to limit school bus use. ....
