A Fife supermarket worker has raised more than £2,000 in memory of her late husband by walking the West Highland Way.
Debbie Smith, who works at Asda Dunfermline, walked the 96-mile route for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland.
The home shopping worker for Asda decided to take part in the walk, in memory of her late partner and colleague Chris, who passed away from a stroke in July 2020.

Debbie was joined by her friend Louise West who was taking part in honour of her mum Betty after she died in January 2020. ....

Marathon man George goes extra mile to win bet with his wife!

DUNFERMLINE Asda worker George Costello ran the equivalent of two full marathons in 48 hours to win a bet with his wife – and then used the money to buy much-needed groceries for the local food bank.
Sixty-year-old George, who s worked at the Halbeath store for four years, ran four miles every four hours until he reached his target of 52 miles, even running at midnight and at 4am to hit his goal.
The dad-of-two, who has run 30 half-marathons over the years, said:
My plan was to do six half-marathons for turning 60 but with COVID everything got cancelled. I said to my wife, Laura, that I was going to do a full marathon for the first time and she kind of challenged me £50 to do it so I ended up doing two marathons over two days! ....

Researchers at Harper Adams University using automation to grow crops have said they are moving closer to a working commercial operation despite disruptions to the project caused by coronavirus.
Field work on the Hands Free Farm at the university’s Shropshire campus ground to a halt during the first lockdown and ruined spring cropping plans, but the team have bounced back and drilled 20ha of wheat and just under 2ha of beans.
It is part of the Hands Free Hectare project which is developing machines to grow crops autonomously. ....
