Newark: Play park in Edingley in full swing thanks to Nottinghamshire County Council and residents

A new community and childrenâs park is now in full swing.
The park in Edingley has opened thanks to a county council scheme, backed by residents and Edingley Parish Council.
The £36,000 play area, at the front of the Edingley Old Schoolroom, features equipment including a wooden ship with slide, an infinity bowl and balancing beam.

Nottinghamshire County Councilâs Local Improvement Scheme gave £18,000 towards the project, which was match-funded by the parish council thanks to residentsâ fundraising efforts, which included children washing cars and pub quizzes.

After more than 10 years of change, debate and advocacy for Quinte Health Care hospitals, the corporation’s administrator retires Friday.
“I’m really excited,” president and chief executive officer Mary Clare Egberts said in a telephone interview.

It began with earning a degree in commerce and economics and her first job as a chartered accountant. After four years with an accounting firm, she moved to a small entrepreneurial company. By the time she left – as it closed its Canadian operations – she was executive vice-president. She said a maternity leave then gave her the chance to think about her next move.
