Knott's Berry Farm Announces Reopening Plans

After being closed for more than a year Knott s Berry Farm announced today it will reopen for season passholders beginning May 6th.
The Buena Park theme park will reopen for the general public on May 21.
Among the interactions that will be open, “Knott s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair will debut with a “4-D interactive dark ride that is an homage to a another classic attraction from 35 years ago.
Knott s Summer Nights attraction is also scheduled to return with live music and food and drink specials. The theme park will also host a nightly ceremony that will be focused around a redesigned, illuminated K-tower at the park. The design will feature photos and other decor that pays tribute to the park s history. ....

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Harvey Weinstein is reportedly facing a sealed indictment that would accelerate his trial on sexual assault charges in Los Angeles and plans to object to extradition during a hearing today in New York.
Weinstein s L.A.-based defense lawyer, Mark Werksman, told the New York Daily News that it s not safe for his 69-year-old client to travel to Los Angeles County given the coronavirus pandemic.
“He s got serious medical impairments. He has spinal stenosis. He can t walk. He s in a wheelchair. He has macular degeneration, Werksman told the newspaper. “He has procedures and medical appointments already in the system where he is now. ....

Suspect Arrested in Deaths of Three Young Children in Reseda

RESEDA (CNS) - Police have confirmed that a 30-year-old woman arrested in Tulare County for the killing of three young children whose bodies were found at a Reseda apartment today was their mother, and considered the sole suspect.
Liliana Carrillo was arrested in the Ponderosa area of Tulare County, east of Porterville, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Cervantes said about 2:30 p.m.
Police said all the children appeared to be under the age of 5, and were found in the 8000 block of Reseda Boulevard, near Strathern Street, after the deaths were reported about 9:30 a.m., according to Cervantes. ....

Black Social Worker Alleges Supervisor Made Insensitive Slavery Comment

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Black social worker is suing the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, alleging a supervisor made a racially insensitive remark about jewelry she was wearing.
“Why do you wear so many bracelets? Is it because you want to become a slave again? Mark Wing C. Cheung, a DCFS assistant regional administrator and co-defendant in the suit, allegedly asked plaintiff Jennifer Jackson Warren.
Warren seeks unspecified damages in the suit filed Thursday. A DCFS representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment. ....

Man Ordered to Stand Trial in Killings of Two Women in the 1980s

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Bakersfield man was ordered today to stand trial in the slayings of two young women in the 1980s, including a Reseda resident whose body was found in the trunk of her car in a Burbank parking lot.
Following a three-day hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Coen found sufficient evidence to allow the case against Horace Van Vaultz, now 65, to proceed to trial on murder charges stemming from the June 9, 1986, asphyxiation of 22-year-old Mary Duggan, whose body was found in the trunk of her car in an empty parking lot in Burbank, and the July 16, 1981, strangulation of Selena Keough, a 20-year-old mother who was killed in San Bernardino County and dumped under bushes in Montclair. ....
