Promised job, retired power firm director conned of Rs 39L | Noida News

Ghaziabad: A former director of Power Finance Corporation seeking a post-retirement assignment was duped of Rs 39 lakh by online fraudsters who allegedly took the money on the pretext of getting him a high-ranking job in a private power company. Two of the accused have been arrested from Agra. The gang has duped thousands of job seekers, mostly retired people, of nearly Rs 50 crore in the past five years, police said.
A Ghaziabad resident, Suresh Chandra retired from Power Finance Corporation in May 2020. From August that year, he started posting his resume on a number of job portals. The accused contacted him that month only, after obtaining his details from one such job portal. The gang members used to access the details of their intended targets by registering themselves with a number of job portals as potential employers. ....

Plea against Section 144 at UP Gate rejected | Noida News

GHAZIABAD: A district court has rejected a review petition against the prohibitory orders imposed by the district magistrate at the farmers’ protest site at the UP Gate under Section 144 CrPC on January 20.
The petition had been filed by a senior lawyer, Nahar Singh Yadav, and a few of his colleagues. They had argued in court that the DM did not have the authority to impose prohibitory orders on a national highway, where the protest is going on.
Yadav, through his counsel, also told the court that the farmers had been protesting “peacefully” and claimed that the government had been trying to level baseless allegations against them. ....

Woman and nephew die after car rams their bike | Noida News

Ghaziabad: Two people died after their bike was allegedly hit by a car in Modinagar on Tuesday.
According to the police, 42-year old woman, identified as Brijbala, was going to an Aadhaar card centre to make some changes in her identity card along with her 22-year old nephew, Vishal.
“When they reached near Ganga Canal, a speeding car hit them from behind. The woman died on the spot while her nephew succumbed to his injuries during the treatment in a hospital,” a police officer said. Both were residents of Rori village in Modinagar, while Vishal was doing MA from a private college in Ghaziabad. ....

GHAZIABAD: The Allahabad high court has directed the Noida administration to ensure that a recovery certificate issued by UP-Rera is honoured by the builder who has failed to deliver a flat in time, “preferably within three months”.
A reply to an RTI query has revealed that the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-Rera), which came into effect three years ago, has disposed of 74% of the total cases in the state, but only 16% of the recovery certificates issued by it have been realised so far. Recovery certificates are orders issued by the regulatory authority, asking builders to clear dues of buyers if they have failed to deliver projects within the deadline. ....

GHAZIABAD: The number of farmers protesting at UP Gate has been dwindling ever since violence erupted on the streets of Delhi on Republic Day. While a number of important farmer unions have called off the agitation and are headed back home with their supporters, a faction wants to be here for the long run.
BKU leader Rakesh Tikait has proposed a formula to ensure that the protesters’ numbers at UP Gate remain consistent. He said the protest is going to be long-drawn and to maintain a constant presence of protesters at the site, he has proposed a formula – one tractor, one village to the farmers. He said 15 people from a village will come at a time to the protest site in a tractor trolley and stay for 10 days. After this, another set will replace them. ....
