The first information report (FIR) was registered almost a year after the fraud occurred. Ghaziabad: A former director of Power Finance Corporation seeking a post-retirement assignment was duped of Rs 39 lakh by online fraudsters who allegedly took the money on the pretext of getting him a high-ranking job in a private power company. Two of the accused have been arrested from Agra. The gang has duped thousands of job seekers, mostly retired people, of nearly Rs 50 crore in the past five years, police said. A Ghaziabad resident, Suresh Chandra retired from Power Finance Corporation in May 2020. From August that year, he started posting his resume on a number of job portals. The accused contacted him that month only, after obtaining his details from one such job portal. The gang members used to access the details of their intended targets by registering themselves with a number of job portals as potential employers. ....
