The Angelo State women’s soccer team completed an undefeated season, which culminated with a close 1-0 victory over the Dallas Baptist Patriots in the Lone Star Conference Spring Championship.
Despite their perfect record, the Belles were considered the underdog, as DBU came into this game as the No. 1 ranked team and opened the game showing why they are ranked so high. In the first twenty minutes of the game, DBU consistently made attacking moves into the Belles final third, but were unable to make any meaningful attempts at goal. The game would remain in a tense deadlock until the 61st minute, when goalkeeper Kira Miller got called into action and made a great save. The Belles would nearly score in the 75th minute, when Avery McNeme forced a save from the DBU keeper, and then again in the closing minute of re
TWO young graduates have been put on the path to becoming teachers thanks to an education bursary from the Wiltshire Community Foundation. Cassidy Hill saved for two years throughout her sixth form at Matravers School in Westbury, where she grew up, to take up a BEd degree in teaching at Winchester University. But her single mother, who has two other children, couldn’t afford to help with the extra expenses needed on top of what was covered by the student loan. The 21-year-old was awarded £1,500 for each year of the three-year course.
Cassidy Hill from Westbury “The grant was an absolutely massive help because my mum just couldn’t afford to give me anything towards university,” she said.

The Angelo State women s soccer team are moving on to the next round of the LSC Tournament after defeating the St. Mary s Rattlers 1-0 this past Tuesday, April 6. The Belles held a well- earned home- field advantage after they cruised to an undefeated regular season following a 6-0 win against UT Permian Basin and a 5-0 win against Texas A&M International. Their 7-0 record earned them hosting duties for the LSC Tournament and the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
The Angelo State Belles on March 10 hosted the St. Edward s Hilltoppers at the ASU Soccer Field. They won the game handily 3-0, and improved to a stellar 4-0 record. All three goals scored by the Belles were products of great soccer play. Additionally, the team demonstrated an uncanny ability to play out from the back and cross the ball in from either sideline, but the game was not without its fair share of drama and intensity.
The Belles took the field in a 4-3-3 formation, allowing them to stretch the field but also play further back when needed and load the midfield with numbers. The Belles got their first shot on goal in the sixth minute, when Cindy Rodriguez forced a save from the Hilltoppers keeper. No more than five minutes later, the Belles got their first goal of the game when Avery McNeme volleyed in Rodriguez s cross. Shortly after, striker Bianca Troost scored the game’s second with a clinical finish into the far corner of the goal, giving the Belles a 2-
