An Effective Liquor Law A provision of the Excise Law gives to the wives of men addicted to drink the right to warn liquor dealers not to sell to their husbands, after which warning damages of $50 can be collected from those who disregard it. Thursday the first notice of this kind was served in Queens county on sixteen saloon keepers, by Justice Lawrence, on complaint of Mrs. Jones, of Flushing. ....

Taylor County History Center Hosts Military Appreciation Day

The Taylor County History Center (aka Buffalo Gap Historic Village) is back to hosting its Military Appreciation Day on the third Saturday of every month. All military personnel active duty or former military and their families are invited and will be admitted into the History Center for free.
The Taylor County History Center volunteers will be hosting tours for military families throughout the day. The tours will take place at the Taylor County History Center at 133 William St. in Buffalo Gap.
The Taylor County History Center / Buffalo Gap Historic Village is home to a wide array of historical buildings and artifacts that are all part of Taylor County s history. Like the original 1879 structure that housed both the Taylor county courthouse and jail. Plus there s the original post office, railroad depot, school, church, bank, doctor s office, barbershop, a print shop, and a few homes. ....
