The Secular Democratic Progressive Alliance, led by the Congress, has given a 12-hour bandh call for February 16 (Monday) to press for the recall of Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi.

Senior Congress leader and AICC observer Veerappa Moily has called upon the rank and file of the party to remain vigilant and ensure that the BJP does not grow in Puducherry as it could destroy the very identity of the Union Territory.
Addressing a Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) meeting here on Sunday, he said the Puducherry government had not only been confronting the COVID-19 pandemic but also Lt. Several citizens have expressed concern over the continued imposition of Section 144 in the Raj Nivas area, even weeks after the conclusion of the agitation led by the Congress and allies seeking the recall of Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi.
Central forces had been called in on an unprecedented scale ahead of the day/night agitation on January 8. Though the agitation was shifted to the Anna Statue on the plea of the administration, the area around the Raj Nivas continues to be barricaded, causing hardship to citizens. ....

Narayanasamy says arrangements should not cause inconvenience to the public
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) headed by Chief Minister Narayanasamy has directed the District Administration to remove the barricades put up in the White Town area.
After chairing a meeting of SDMA at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the government does not have any issue in providing security to Raj Nivas but the arrangements should not cause inconvenience to the public. ....

Narayanasamy says Collector should have consulted him as he is the Home Minister
Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Tuesday slammed District Collector Purva Garg for invoking Section 144 of the CrPc during the recent agitation called by the Secular Democratic Progressive Alliance against Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi.
As chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority and Home Minister, the District Collector should have consulted him before invoking Section 144 and requesting the Union Government to deploy Central forces. The Revenue Minister, who is the Vice-chairman of the SDMA, was also kept in the dark on Section 144 and force deployment, he said at a press conference. ....
