ROUND LAKE, ONT. Hannah Summers wants to show off the best little places in Renfrew County. The 25-year-old student and designer started her company called Summers Signature Designs in May. She creates custom clothing designs for small towns in Renfrew County. “I’m from a small town and I really enjoy small towns, but there’s no where to really get shirts for small towns,” says Summers, inspired by her hometown of Round Lake, Ont. “It’s really cool because the whole theme of my shirts is explore Renfrew County.” Summers says she is looking to highlight the hidden gems of the county with her new t-shirt and sweater designs. ....
FATHERS Day may not be the optimum day, in the eyes of some families, to hold a running event, but nevertheless, 18 teams of at least 16 runners, including fathers and grandfathers, mothers and grandmothers, sons and daughters, entered the Cleveland Way Relay from Filey to Helmsley, about 110 miles, on June 20. Rain had been forecast for days, but in the event, it was only wet for the very early departure from Thirsk to be at Filey for a 5am start, and the rest of the day was good for running. There are 16 legs varying in length from just over eight miles down to about 3.5 miles. Each team must have at least one woman, and an all female team is allowed one man. The changeover places are specified but runners can choose their own route, with a few exceptions. ....
Man taken to hospital with leg injury after fall in woodland near Clay Bank A WALKER had to be rescued after sustaining a leg injury in woodland near Clay Bank. Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team received a call from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to help with a 25-year-old man who had sustained a wound to his right leg whilst in woodland south of Great Broughton. Just after 4.30pm on Saturday it was reported the man was on a steep grassy slope some 200-metres into the woodlands. Two team Land Rovers were deployed whilst team members were called out to an RV-point at Clay Bank car park. ....
