Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the deep and shallow sea areas around the island and Bay of Bengal sea areas until further notice due to very severe cyclonic storm “YASS” over northwest Bay of Bengal. This system is very likely to move north-northwestwards and cross north Odisha during 26th May noon. The impact of this system, on weather over the sea areas around the island is expected to reduce gradually. ....

The Level 02 Alert was issued for the Yakkalamulla, Elpitiya, Nagoda, Neluwa, Baddegama, Niyagama, and Thawalama Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Galle Districts. The Level 02 Alert was also issued for the Bulathsinhala, Mathugama, Ingiriya, Walallawita, Agalawatta, Dodangoda, Palindanuwara, and Horana Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kalutara District. The announcement by the NBRO also added that people who live in other Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Kalutara, Beruwala, Millaniya, Madurawala, and Panadura should be vigilant in cutting failures in Kalutara District. ....
