MATTAPOISETT Town Election will be on May 18, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Old Hammondtown School, with 11 elected offices and a question on the ballot.
Leading the ballot is the race for the newly renamed Select Board, between Nicki Demakis and Jodi Lynn Bauer. The two are vying for Paul Silva’s position on the board, as he chose not to seek another term.
Two positions on the Mattapoisett School Committee are open: Incumbent Jim Muse’s seat, for which he is seeking reelection, and a seat left open by Carol Clifford, who chose not to run for reelection. ....

Here's who's running for election in the Tri-Town

Town elections are coming up in May for Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester, and candidates are starting to submit their intent.
Town Election in Marion is on May 14, and seats are availabe on the Board of Health, Board of Assessors, Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Marion Open Space Acquisition Commission, and the Marion School Committee.
Two spots each are up for election on the Marion School Committee and Planning Board. Board Vice Chair Andrew Davis and Kristen St. Don Campbell who resigned are up on the Planning Board. Michelle Ouellette Smith and April Rios are up on the School Committee. ....

New Mexico judge sides with man who sued state for blocking nursing home visits with wife

A New Mexico judge this week decided in favor of 78-year-old Gary Hein, who sued the state for keeping him apart from his wife, who currently lives in a nursing home, during the coronavirus pandemic, according to local reports.
The New Mexico Health Department must revise a provision enacted in March allowing nursing homes to make their own rules regarding visitor bans, State District Judge Matthew Wilson ordered Monday after hearing Hein s case, the Santa Fe New Mexican reported. ....
