Inverclyde Shed supplies free fruit and veg to Grieve Road pantry

FREE homegrown fruit and veg is now on the menu at a local pantry thanks to a bountiful community garden. Bruce Newlands and the team at Inverclyde Shed grow fresh fruit and vegetables at the Shore Street garden in Gourock, producing a plentiful supply of produce which is then distributed to initiatives across Inverclyde, including the soup shed at Bluebird Family Centre. Now the Grieve Road community pantry is set to benefit too. As it grows in popularity - with almost 570 members signed up in just six months - Bruce will now be making sure the shop is stocked up.

TWO Gourock neighbours have appeared in court accused of each arming themselves with multiple weapons and having a street fight at 8.30 in the morning. Ryan Cannon, 29, is said to have had a baseball bat and a knife during the alleged clash with Kyle Watson, 26, who is charged with possession of a tyre wrench and a golf club. Prosecutors say both men immediate neighbours of each other on Shore Street conducted themselves in a disorderly manner and engaged in a fight last Thursday. The Telegraph told on Friday how police had discharged a Taser after numerous officers were alerted to reports of a violent disturbance on the street.

Robert Guthrie admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Kirkcaldy Acute Hospital on July 12, shouting and swearing at nurses and assaulting a security guard. 51-year-old Guthrie pled guilty to acting in a manner likely to cause registered nurses fear or alarm in that he also kicked a door and behaved in an aggressive manner, failing to desist when asked to do so.
