Freshman Teliyah James, junior Rachel Hagans, senior Jumyia Denning, and sophomore Lucia Herrero Yanez broke the previous record in the 4×100 relay with a running time of 45.34, placing first for the Racers. In the 4×800 freshman Kayla Bell, sophomore LaMiah Campbell, junior Dani Wright, and sophomore Amirr Evans dismantled the previous record time of 9:25.00, set in 1989, and placed first with the new program-record time of 9:09:43. ....
USI planning for in-person instruction for fall semester EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana is making plans for in-person instruction for the upcoming semester, the school announced Tuesday. To ensure the highest likelihood of more normal operations in the fall, the university is encouraging students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated as soon as they re able. The more people who are vaccinated, the greater our chance of returning to a more normal semester this fall, USI President Ronald Rochon said in a statement. Vaccinations will be key to our ability to return to in-person classes, events, campus housing and community involvement. Because we want to return to a sense of normalcy, we all must play our part. As we have seen, nothing with this pandemic is a certainty. We must remain vigilant and flexible as we move toward the fall semester. ....
NEWBURGH, Ind. Authorities are investigating after a body was recovered from the Ohio River near the Newburgh Lock and Dam Monday afternoon. At 1:19 p.m., Warrick County dispatchers received a call from the lockmaster that a tugboat had spotted the body in the river, Sheriff Mike Wilder said. The tugboat secured the body on the water until fire crews brought the body to shore, according to Wilder. A joint investigation between the sheriff s office and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is underway. Foul play is not suspected to be a factor, according to a news release from DNR Monday evening. ....
