Lee Co. to begin hunt for assistant county manager, wraps up Palmyra subdivision road project

Recently, all roads in the Palmyra subdivision were resurfaced, but the project is starting to wrap up.
Lee County officials said a few small details, like striping, may still be left to do. They said the job will hopefully be done in roughly a week or so.

Mathis said people living in the area shouldn’t expect any kind of rerouting or delays.
“Road paving is always in big demand in Lee County. We have about 200 miles of dirt roads and about 200 miles of paved roads and we have to repave, so there are always plenty of road projects ahead,” said Mathis. ....

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Afternoon temperatures will continue to warm through the rest of the week.
Milder weather will continue to flow into the Carolinas over the next few days, but chilly nights will remain.
With clear skies, temperatures tonight will drop into the lower 40s along the Grand Strand and to near 40 across the Pee Dee.

Once again, temperatures will warm very quickly through the day on Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures will soar all the way into the lower 70s inland. The seabreeze will cap temperatures along the Grand Strand in the lower to middle 60s. ....

Alaska fishermen optimistic as Pacific halibut fishery opens

The Pacific halibut fishery opens March 6, and increased catch limits combined with a cautiously optimistic outlook for the near future have fanned interest in buying shares of the popular fish.
In January, the International Pacific Halibut Commission boosted total halibut removals for 2021 by 6.5% to 39 million pounds for taken by all users and as bycatch in fisheries of the West Coast, British Columbia and Alaska. That is higher than the total take for the past three years.
For commercial fishermen, the halibut catch limit of 25.7 million pounds is an increase of 2.6 million pounds over 2020. Alaska gets the largest chunk at 19.6 million pounds, and all regions except for the Bering Sea will see increased catches. ....
