Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) held an award ceremony for the winners of the Qatar International Rally 2021 (QIR) on January 31, 2021. The defending Qatari champion, Naser Al Attiyah, along with his French co-driver Matthieu Baumel managed to take home first place. With a winning margin of 1 minute and 48 seconds over Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Naser Al Attiyah managed to bag yet another victory with their Autotek Motorsport Volkswagen Polo GTi R5. Moreover, Abdulaziz Al Kuwari and Khalid Al Suwaidi finished second and third at the QIR respectively. The event took place at Katara Cultural village initiated by asking all the competitors and the co-drivers regarding their experience at the rally and how it differs from their previous international competitions. ....
Messenger DOHA, Feb 1, (KUNA): Meshari Al-Dhafeeri of Kuwait and his codriver Qatari Nasser Al-Kawari won the MERC 2 or Group N category of Qatar International Rally on Sunday, finishing the race in a total time of two hours, 17 minutes and 10 seconds. In comments after the win, Al- Dhafeeri cited the world-class quality of the competition, promising not to rest on his laurels and strive for greater achievements to show how far motorsport has come in Kuwait. He dedicated the victory to Kuwait’s leadership, attributing his success to the overwhelming support he has received at home, as he encouraged his compatriot youngsters to follow in his footsteps. Al Attiyah grabs lead at Qatar Rally 31 Jan 2021 - 9:40 The Peninsula Defending regional champion Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah took full advantage of late problems for Ulsterman Kris Meeke to hammer home his advantage after a fascinating four gravel special stages of the Qatar International Rally yesterday. The two rivals shared a pair of stage wins apiece through the northern deserts and were separated by 10.3 seconds before the last action of the day.
