AN ARTIST has waxed lyrical about the the last of the Cumbrian horse ploughmen . Robin Oliver, who grew at a farm at the foot of Cold Fell has put together words and pictures detailing the life and background of James Ernest Elliott. The Focus piece went live on Robins website last week. Both Robin and James came from farms in the Brampton area. On his website Robin wrote: Erian, strain, sweat, grind, strive, labour, toil, breaking open into furrows, even depth, cutting a straight line, turning over weeds, stubble and grass, drawing on his experience, instinct and know-how. A DUDLEY live music venue is in a desperate battle for survival because of the new coronavirus lockdown. Dirty Rockers is a venture set up not much more than a year ago by a couple who decided to take the plunge and fill the live music gap in the town. But their plans have been hammered by lockdowns and Tier restrictions which have left them on a financial knife edge. They have now set up their second Gofundme page as they try to battle through – having missed out on the possibility of tens of thousands of pounds in grant, simply because the town centre business is too young to be eligible. ....
