District 1 Councilor Pascale Burga said a stroll along the shoreline between Lane and Wessagusset beaches during low tide reveals all sorts of things.
During low tide, I like to walk it, she said. It s like a private place. You can find shrimp, all kinds of mussels and clams. You can’t eat the clams. I’ve recently seen people parasailing down there.”
Burga said she and some residents would like to see both beaches linked with a pathway because the rocky shoreline is difficult to walk on.
Weymouth Principal Planner Robert Luongo said the planning department is seeking $1.4 million in state grants to construct the pathway and improve a coastal embankment between the beaches. ....

The Corps of Engineers are accepting public comment until May 26. In addition, “any person may request a public hearing,” which must be submitted in writing to the District Engineer within the 30-day comment period, and provide specific reasons for requesting the hearing, according to the notice.
Comments will be used to evaluate the impact of the proposed activity, and “to determine whether to issue, modify, condition, or deny, a permit for this proposal,” according to the Army Corps, and “a permit will be granted unless its issuance is found to be contrary to the public interest.”
The Bebop is being financed by hedge fund manager William Perkins III, founder of Brisa Max Holdings VI LLC, who moved to the territory in 2013 and proposed the floating bar under the business name “Cowgirl Bebop LLLP.” ....

Off the tip of the Florida Peninsula lies the world’s third-largest living coral reef, the Great Florida Reef. The only barrier reef system in North America, it is composed of a system of individual reefs that together extend 270 kilometers south of Miami through the Florida Keys, a crescent-shaped chain of more than 1,500 islands, about 30 of which are inhabited. This ecological treasure is home to more than 6,000 species of marine life, including colorful fish and endangered sea turtles, as well as extensive seagrass beds, mangrove islands and about 1,000 shipwrecks. ....
