He is said to have already sold the gold ornaments valued at about two lac rupees which the murderers had robbed from the deceased in Mumbai. He is lkely to be bought here in a couple of days.

In a statement in Mangaluru, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on July 2 said she had urged the then Minister of State for Railways Suresh C. Angadi to name the train after five rivers in Udupi that come together to join the Arabian Sea near Kundapura, thus getting the name Panchagangavali river.

Jagadeesha has issued an order imposing total lockdown, with some exceptions, in 16 gram panchayats in Udupi district from 6 a.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Monday. These villages have 50 and above active COVID-19 cases each. The order is to prevent the further spread of the infection in the villages. Of these panchayats, Belman, Miyar, Palli, Kukkundur, Nallur and Marne panchayats are in Karkala taluk; Shiroor, Jadkal and Naada are in Baindoor taluk; Gangolli and Aluru are in Kundapur taluk; Belve, Shirva in Kaup taluk; Kokkarne, Avarse in Brahmavar taluk and Varanga in Hebri taluk.

Udupi sees massive sea erosion Updated: Updated: One person dies of electrocution Share Article One person dies of electrocution Cyclone Tauktae brought heavy rains that partially damaged eight houses and five sheds in Udupi district on Saturday and one person was electrocuted in Kapu taluk owing to a snapped power cable. A communique from the Deputy Commissioner here said four families on the seafront were shifted to a relief centre at Uppunda in Byndoor taluk while seven families in Kundapur taluk and one family in Kapu taluk were shifted to relatives’ houses. About 60 residents of Kodi village in Brahmavara taluk were asked to shift to the relief centre, it said. Similar instructions were given to people residing close to the Sea in Kapu taluk.
