WEST HARTFORD Republican Town Council member Mary Fay described it as a “benign” comment left on a friend’s Facebook page before the protest that turned violent in Washington.
But following the remark supporting former West Hartford Town Council member Joe Visconti as he prepared to attend the event and a statement released by Mayor Shari Cantor and town council minority leader Lee Gold, Fay said in a council meeting this week she’d become “a lightning rod for being threatened.”
A West Hartford town council member who was accused of inflammatory rhetoric in the wake of the U.S. Capitol invasion says she has been unfairly vilified and threatened for an innocent comment.
