Birmingham’s new yet notably experienced City Manager Tom Markus is getting a kick out of running into new and old friends, employees and supporters. He was city manager for Birmingham, one of Michigan’s wealthier communities, from 1989 to 2010, and recently returned to the power position after more years of city management in both Iowa and Kansas. “Birmingham is an exceptional community that has managed its affairs very well,” Markus said. “We have a number of boards and commissions with engaged citizens.
