Man charged in Oxford Walmart bomb threat

OXFORD - A Lafayette County man has been formally charged with making a false bomb threat at a crowded Oxford business Sunday afternoon.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the management of the Walmart called Lafayette County 911 around 4 p.m. Jan. 31 saying there was a person in the store telling customers that he planted a bomb inside the store, and that they needed to leave before it went off.
When police arrived moments later, store officials pointed out the suspect who was trying to leave. That person was detained without further incident. Police quickly evacuated the store and set up a perimeter, until additional resources could arrive. Three bomb dogs from other agencies were called to the scene to assist OPD in searching the store. ....

OXFORD â¢ A Lafayette County man has been arrested and charged with calling in a bomb threat Sunday afternoon.
Jordan Montrey Williams, 26, of Oxford, was arrested and will be formally charged, Monday, after allegedly calling in a false bomb threat to Walmart in Oxford.
According to the Oxford Police Department, Walmart management called Lafayette County 911 around 4 p.m. on Jan. 31 saying there was a person in the store telling customers he planted a bomb and that they needed to leave before it went off.
When police arrived, store officials pointed out the Williams, who was trying to leave. Williams was detained without further incident. The Oxford Police Department arrested an Oxford man Sunday for allegedly telling Walmart customers he planted a bomb inside the store.
Officers received a 911 call at about 4 p.m. Sunday from Walmart management. They said there was a man telling customers he had planted a bomb inside the store and that they needed to leave before it went off.
Officers arrived and arrested Jordan Montrey Williams, 26, of Oxford without incident.
Walmart evacuated the store and OPD formed a perimeter around the building until additional resources could arrive.
Three explosives-detection K9s from other agencies were called to the scene to assist OPD in searching the store. ....
