Odisha Assembly: Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro suspends BJP legislators for unruly behaviour

The incident took place when the Opposition Congress brought an adjournment motion to discuss corruption in mining activities (mining business determining the politics in Odisha). All hell broke loose when the Speaker refused to admit the motion for discussion. Both the Congress and BJP MLAs accused the Speaker of adopting a partisan attitude. The situation turned ugly when an amendment to the Odisha Lokayukta bill was passed.
The Opposition MLAs trooped into the well of the House and created a ruckus. Suddenly chappals and other articles were thrown at the podium of the Speaker from the Opposition benches.

Bhubaneswar: Speaker Surya Narayan Patro on Saturday suspended three BJP MLAs Jayanarayan Mishra, Bishnu Charan Sethi and Mohan Majhi till the end of the budget session after shoes, earphone and a pen were hurled at him during proceedings of the house earlier in the day.
The session, which was scheduled till April 9, was later adjourned sine die five days ahead of schedule.
Government chief whip Pramila Mallick told reporters outside the assembly that Jayanarayan and Bishnu had thrown shoes at the speaker while Mohan had flung the pen. ....
