‘The lost art of reading’ by Zeeshan Ahsan (May 7) was a great read. Reading is not lost in the west where book reading culture is still very much alive. People read books when travelling by planes, buses and trains, gift books to children instead of toys and encourage them to read. In our country, tuition culture has severely curtailed the time for reading! If students go for tuition after school and return in the evening, how can they read. Studies have been made such a burden for students that they don’t have time for reading and physical activities. I think that this problem needs to be addressed by concerned authorities. ....
