A volunteer search for the seven missing Seacor crew members continues while a cloud of accusations lingers from the United Cajun Navy. Earlier this month there was a falling out between a group of volunteers and the UCN which has now led to president Todd Terrell taking legal action against two key volunteers. The United Cajun Navy leader filed a protective order this week in East Baton Rouge Parish accusing Christifer DeRouen of cyberstalking and extortion, claiming that the search volunteer attacked him on social media and through text messages. Terrell also accused Scott Daspit (father of missing Seacor crew member Dylan Daspit) of cyberstalking, saying that he worked in harmony with DeRouen to extort money from him over their demand to see donations that they claim Terrell wasn t being fully transparent about. ....
Missing Seacor Crewmember s Hard Hat Found 600 Miles Away From Where Boat Capsized On 5/14/21 at 4:49 PM EDT The hard hat of missing Seacor Power crewmember Dylan Daspit washed up and was discovered by a lifeguard on the beach along the Texas coast, confirmed U.S. Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer Cory Mindenhall. The hat washed up in Port Aransas, nearly 600 miles from the site of the Seacor Power capsizing, according to WGNO. Daspit, 30, is one of seven men still missing from the Seacor Power disaster, which occurred April 13. The Seacor Power, a lift boat owned by Seacor Marine, capsized in April, several miles from Port Fourchon, Louisiana with 19 crewmen on board. According to KLFY, a microburst of severe weather caused the craft to capsize just after 4 p.m. ....

A volunteer group planned to call of its search Sunday for the seven crewmen missing and presumed dead after an oilfield boat capsized in a storm April 13 about 8 miles south of Port Fourchon. The United Cajun Navy, which had led the search effort from a dock in Cocodrie, posted the update Sunday morning on its Facebook page. We are sad to say that we are suspending our UCN organized and coordinated search efforts in the search for the 7 missing Seacor crewmen, the organization said. Others may continue in the search efforts and we wish them luck. ATVs from the United Cajun Navy were searching the Holly Beach area south of Lake Charles on Sunday as well as the Texas coast near Louisiana s border, the group said. A new nonprofit has been formed to assist with the search for the missing crew of the Seacor Power amidst the United Cajun Navy announcing they are stepping away. Gulf Coast Humanitarian Efforts nonprofit has been established by volunteers along with Scott Daspit, the father of Delcambre native Dylan Daspit, who is one of seven men still missing. All donations will go toward the continued search. We essentially started with a net-zero balance to fund this search and rescue when the United Cajun Navy stepped away, explained Gulf Coast Humanitarian Efforts Vice President Christifer DeRouen. Now that the Coast Guard and United Cajun Navy have bowed out of the search, it is up to volunteers to keep the search efforts going. ....
