COVID vaccination clinics opening at Lilac Fest, Monroe County sites

Lilac Festival-goers will be able to gaze at the blooms, over-indulge in fried dough, and pop in for their COVID vaccine.
The festival begins Friday and continues for the next three weekends.
Vaccinations with the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Look for the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System tent. Monroe County public health staffers also will be on hand. All eligible are welcome.
Additionally, the county announced a series of upcoming pop-up clinics in the suburbs. Those will offer the two-shot Pfizer vaccine at these dates and locations:

A VA Great Lakes Health Care System, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12, leader was announced as a winner in the Chicago Federal Executive Board (FEB) 2021 awards competition.
Lynette Taylor, VISN 12 deputy network director, won the John F. Kennedy Leadership award in the competition for her role as VISN 12 incident commander, leading the COVID-19 response for VISN 12 s eight medical facilities.
I am proud that a VISN 12 leader was selected by the Chicago FEB as the winner of the JFK Leadership award, said Victoria Brahm, VISN 12 network director. Ms. Taylor proactively determined appropriate actions to keep our Veterans, employees and each other safe in the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mount Morris, NY, April 16, 2021 The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System has cancelled the COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Mount Morris scheduled for April 17, 2021. The clinic would have been administering the one-shot Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.
According to a statement on the
VA website, “We’re following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidance to pause in providing the Janssen vaccine at this time. This pause is due to a concern about possible rare side effects. Your safety is our top priority.
