DVIDS - News - Williamson takes command of Naval Station Great Lakes, Departing CO Leung receives Legion of Merit

11 GREAT LAKES, Ill. - Capt. Jason Williamson relieved Capt. Raymond Leung as Commanding Officer of Naval Station Great Lakes during a change of command ceremony on the morning of May 7. The ceremony took place aboard the installation at Ross Theater on the mainside of the installation. Rear Adm. Charles Rock, Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, served as the guest speaker. Leung served as Naval Station Great Lakes Commanding Officer from May 2018 to May 2021. Faced with the unprecedented challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Leung inspired the command to innovatively execute critical services that ensured the uninterrupted annual training of 39,000 recruits to Sailors and the training of 11,000 enlisted surface warfare specialists in direct support of the Navy’s directive to maintain and protect the Navy’s accessions supply chain.

VISN 12 Deputy Network Director Wins Federal Leadership Award Lynette Taylor, VISN 12 deputy network director and incident commanderDaniel Duverney   Updated 5/6/2021 9:17 AM A VA Great Lakes Health Care System, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12, leader was announced as a winner in the Chicago Federal Executive Board (FEB) 2021 awards competition. Lynette Taylor, VISN 12 deputy network director, won the John F. Kennedy Leadership award in the competition for her role as VISN 12 incident commander, leading the COVID-19 response for VISN 12 s eight medical facilities.   I am proud that a VISN 12 leader was selected by the Chicago FEB as the winner of the JFK Leadership award, said Victoria Brahm, VISN 12 network director. Ms. Taylor proactively determined appropriate actions to keep our Veterans, employees and each other safe in the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremony will be a closed event, by invitation only, due to COVID-19 restrictions on base.
