Warriors Wangling Walleye raising thousands for veterans charity

PORT CLINTON - While the weather may keep them off the water on Friday, dozens of veteran anglers will nonetheless still go forward with tens of thousands of contributions to life-saving efforts impacting their peers.
On Friday, the local nonprofit organization Warriors Wangling Walleye is hosting its fourth annual veterans walleye tournament and banquet with proceeds benefiting Save A Warrior, a program supporting active-duty military, returning veterans and first responders experiencing psychological trauma.
Although, with winds expected to top over 20 mph and even higher possible gusts, this year’s tournament participants are not likely to be able to make it out on Lake Erie, but the banquet and all other activities are still taking place as planned, according to John Tucholski, organizer and co-founder of Warriors Wangling Walleye. ....

My sister-in-law, Sandy, and I were working in a back office upstairs at 108 W. Perry Street, where the Clinton House Restaurant is now. We were putting the finishing touches on Vol. 1, No. 1 of The Beacon.
We were highlighting the new officers of the Ottawa County Heart Association, Gary Kohli and Kathy Steinmiller, along with a photo of Bill Friemark passing the gavel as president of the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce to Howard Guenther. It was the first edition of The Beacon, dedicated to positive local weekly news and information. ....
