KENDALLVILLE An arrest of a Pleasant Lake man on a child molesting charge was the most-read story of the week on kpcnews.com. John A. Stalf, 50, allegedly fondled a girl that was 10 at the time, said charging documents filed in Steuben Superior Court. The incident allegedly took place either Oct. 18 or 19, 2020, shortly before the girlâs 11th birthday, court records said. The girl was spending the night at the Stalf home, sleeping on a couch, court documents said, when he allegedly touched her inappropriately. The incident was reported to the Steuben County Sheriffâs Office in March by the victimâs mother. ....
LAKE JAMES â The 50-year brand that is Tomâs Donuts is building on its tradition with an expansion at the lake. Right across from the original Tomâs Donuts shop at the Four Corners of Lake James is a new addition to the company, a park on Jimmerson Creek that is outfitted with a sizeable food trailer that will start serving gourmet burgers and other offerings. At a time when lakeside eateries are going by the wayside because of skyrocketing land values, Todd Saylor, owner of Tomâs and son of founder Tom Saylor, has invested in two lots that are channel side and has created a space where upward of 75 people will be able to grab a bite and congregate, either by land or by water. ....
ANGOLA â When Charrissa Rager looks around the newly expanded Lakeside Meats, she beams, just beams. The former Hargerâs Meats, then Lakeside Farm Market and now Lakeside Meats, has doubled in size at its location at 1920 W. C.R. 200N, located between Crooked Lake and Lake James. When Tasty Pizza moved out of the strip center where Lakeside now has about half of the space, Rager was eager to make the move to expand. âI wanted to move into that area but I wanted to do it when this space was free,â she said. Starting late last year, Charrissa and Trent Rager started their expansion that would take the store from 2,000 to 4,000-square-feet thatâs in a busy location by the lakes. ....
