The City of Buffalo Water Department program that was created to help people who had past-due water bills or whose water had been turned off due to non-payment was originally scheduled to end at the end of June, but thanks to some additional help from the Federal Government the program will continue. According to reporting by WKBW-TV, the program known as the Water Amnesty Program is able to continue thanks to an infusion of money from the American Rescue Plan that was passed by Congress earlier this year and signed by President Biden. The City of Buffalo, which is due to receive more than $300 Million from the American Rescue Plan, is using approximately $13 Million to continue this program that allows people who had their water shut off due to non-payment to have their water services restored. Residents can also apply for a payment plan to help them repay past due balances. That payment plan waives interest and penalty fees and can be extended to 12 months. ....
