Centre County Memorial Day Celebrations Today, Centre County veterans and their families took time to remember their fallen comrades. Bellefonte’s Meyer Cemetery on Buffalo Run Road was the site one of the multiple sites for memorial services in Centre County this afternoon. This Memorial Day weekend, veterans across the county, including Penn State graduate Robert Daughenbaugh, remind Americans to remember messages our founding fathers penned centuries ago. “We the people of this great land, through its Constitution, are entrusted with forming not just a union of states, but a more perfect union,” Division amongst Americans has been a common theme in recent years, but Daughenbaugh wants people to start looking again at the bigger picture. ....
Benner Twp. Fire Update 6:54 pm Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers has identified the victim of Sunday night’s fatal fire at a mobile home in Benner Township. Sayers says 42-year-old Kenneth Fitzgerald died from smoke inhalation and his death has been ruled accidental. Several crews were called to the mobile home fire, along Buffalo Run Road, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The home was completely destroyed by the blaze and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. ....
From staff reports BELLEFONTE Centre County Coroner Scott A. Sayers has identified the fire victim who died in a fire in his home Monday as Kenneth Matt Fitzgerald. The cause of death is smoke inhalation and the manner of death is accidental, Sayers said. Fitzgerald’s body was found in the the mobile home where the man lived on Buffalo Run Road in Benner Township after fire destroyed the structure. A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which was discovered at 12:05 a.m. Monday and kept dozens of firefighters at the scene for several hours. ....
