Sullivan’s fundraising ahead of mayoral field in Holyoke > Published: 7/13/2021 7:18:49 PM HOLYOKE Campaign cash is pouring into Holyoke, where eight candidates are jockeying to become the city’s next mayor in a wide-open election. In total, Holyoke mayoral candidates have raked in $152,311 since the start of the year, according to figures from the state’s Office of Campaign and Political Finance. Most of that money comes from political donations during that time period, though some candidates have transferred sums of money from their previous campaigns. At the top of that list is At-large City Councilor Michael Sullivan, who between Jan. 1 and June 30 raised $55,278, of which $20,000 came from his previous campaign account. Fellow At-large Councilor Rebecca Lisi raised $31,986 in the same time period, $7,916 of which came from her previous election fundraising. William Glidden, a writer and former aide to previous mayor Alex Morse, pulled in $31,929, ....

NORTHAMPTON – The city’s most notorious missing vowel is getting its very own beer. The C LVIN India Pale Ale, named after the appearance of the Calvin Theatre sign with its missing “A,” is slated to be released this week at bars across the Valley as part of Western Mass Beer Week. The limited-release beer is a collaboration between Brewmaster Jack of Northampton and Abandoned Building Brewery of Easthampton. “It celebrates Northampton culture,” said Tyler Guilmette, owner of Brewmaster Jack. ....
Published: 4/9/2021 2:56:31 PM NORTHAMPTON Longtime downtown business owner Bill Muller thought he had a plan consolidate his Northampton businesses, Guild Art Supply and Pierce’s Frameshop, and his Easthampton printing business, Big Wheel Press, into one space in the old Serio’s Market storefront on State Street in Northampton. The spot was ideal, complete with parking. “We were working on floor plans and everything,” he said. “Then COVID hit.” Surrounded by so much economic uncertainty, Muller scrapped those plans entirely. Instead of staying in downtown Northampton, where he’s run Guild Art Supply for 37 years, he made the tough decision last year to move the store and framing shop to his press space in Easthampton. ....
