Clough is an electrical construction and maintenance electrician student from Hornell. Mars is a culinary arts: baking, production and management major from Bronx. This honor recognizes outstanding post-secondary-level students enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare them for careers that are not traditional for their gender. A nontraditional career is an occupation where one sex comprises fewer than 25 percent of the total employed. ....

Marblehead students take the plunge for good cause More than $5,000 raised for Massachusetts Special Olympics If a friend told you to jump into the ocean in February, would you do it? You might if you were a Marblehead High School student or a member of the MHS All Sports Boosters or the Marblehead Rotary Club. Sunday about 40 high school students and volunteers took a Polar Plunge off Devereaux Beach to benefit Massachusetts Special Olympics and raised over $5,000 in doing so. The Boosters have been supporting Special Olympics Massachusetts for many years and around this time are usually gearing up to support the Summer Games at Harvard Stadium. In lieu of the canceled annual event in which over 100 students generally volunteer each year, they chose to participate in the Polar Plunge. ....

The Welcoming Hartford Ordinance brought the most Valley News coverage, skewing public perception, as though that was all that happened. Death threats made to former Hartford Selectboard member Alicia Barrow are “big picture,” as was the death of George Floyd. Potholes in Quechee are “big picture,” as is climate change and the Texas electric grid. The personal, the local, the state and the federal are political.
