House version of Florida Keys mooring bill drops 90-day clause

State House representatives have removed the requirement from a proposed bill that would have ordered boat owners anchored or moored off the Florida Keys to move their vessels every 90 days if they were not moored in a regulated mooring field.
HB 639, and its Senate companion bill, SB 1068, included the 90-day requirement to help prevent Keys vessels from becoming derelict and sinking, which has become an expensive problem for the Monroe County government.
The 90-day provision remains in the Senate version of the state bill, which the Senate has passed. Also in the Senate version is a provision that before the law be enacted 300 new moorings be placed within a mile of Key West, 250 new ones and adding 50 to the City of Key Westâs mooring field. ....

Indonesian submarine goes missing during torpedo drill with 53 people on board

Indonesian authorities are leading a search for one of the country s navy submarines that went missing Wednesday with 53 people on board as it was conducting a torpedo drill.
Reuters reported that the sailors aboard the German-made submarine, KRI Nanggala-402, were preparing for a weapons training exercise in waters north of the Indonesian island of Bali.
The news agency noted that authorities began searching for the submarine after it failed to send back results from the military drill.

Julius Widjojono, the first admiral of Indonesia’s navy, confirmed to Agence France-Presse that the submarine could not be reached starting at 3 a.m. local time Wednesday. ....

Sri Lanka spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan was admitted to a hospital in Chennai yesterday due to cardiac issues.
The spinner, who turned 49 on Saturday, underwent an angioplasty and is currently stable.
Muralitharan is in India as part of Sunrisers Hyderabad s coaching staff for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO, K Shanmugam, told Sportstar that Muralitharan underwent angioplasty on Sunday morning. He got some scans done in Sri Lanka and when he was in Chennai, he consulted a few doctors and they suggested that he undergoes a procedure and it was done immediately, Shanmugam said.
He is absolutely fine now and should be fit to join the team in the next few days. He is doing fine, the CEO said. ....
