Thefts from vehicles
Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 5500 block of Wisconsin Avenue around 4 p.m. on April 8. Force was reported.
Parts were taken from a vehicle in the 7700 block of Wisconsin Avenue between 5:55 and 6:30 a.m. on April 7. Force was reported.
Three people took money and property from multiple vehicles between April 5 and 8. Affected streets included Shaftsbury Street, Edgefield Road, Capitol View Avenue, Pratt Place, Conifer Lane, and the area of Jones Mill Road and Le Velle Drive.
Property was taken from four vehicles between April 6 and 9. Affected streets included Ashley Drive, Antigua Terrace and Barbados Place. Force was reported in two cases. ....

I-295 lane closed due to wall collapse reopens

BELLMAWR - Traffic is rolling again on a highway lane that was closed here last month after the collapse of a retaining wall.
The right-hand lane of northbound Interstate 295 between Essex Avenue and the area of Browning Road was scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning, said the state Department of Transportation.
The lane was closed March 25 after a retaining wall shifted next to a segment of 295 that was under construction as part of the Direct Connection project.
The affected roadway had not yet opened to traffic, according to the DOT.
But the lane s shutdown, which was taken as a safety measure, caused traffic congestion for some northbound motorists. ....

Delivery-only restaurants rose in prominence during the coronavirus pandemic as patrons became increasingly wary of in-person dining and ate more meals at home.
But these so-called cloud kitchens or ghost kitchens predate the pandemic by several years, and industry experts and restaurateurs think they have the potential to outlast it.
Cloud kitchens appeal to prospective restaurant owners thanks to low overhead costs, and they provide the freedom to experiment with new concepts.
“People have different definitions of ghost kitchen,” said Mark Kelnhofer, president and CEO of Return on Ingredients in Westerville and a lecturer for Ohio State University’s hospitality management program. “But they have to have a small footprint, where you are manufacturing the menu items at one location, and it allows for pick up and delivery but eliminates the front-of-house component.” ....

Clacton police officer condemns Jaywick arsonists | Clacton and Frinton Gazette

A POLICE officer has condemned a series of senseless arson attacks in a coastal village which put people’s lives in danger.
Crews from the Essex Fire Service were called to Jaywick several times between 10pm on Sunday and 7.30am on Monday.
During that period firefighters extinguished fires in Alvis Avenue, in which a trailer full of wood and rubbish was torched, and blazes in Hillman Avenue and Riley Avenue.
In Bentley Avenue, at about 10.20pm on Sunday, a sofa also went up in flames before then spreading to a fence and trellis at a nearby home.
The house itself then caught fire and insulation inside the wall was set alight while a 46-year-old woman was inside. ....
