Library treasures to be auctioned off

AUBURN — Online bidding is underway as the Eckhart Public Library looks to liquidate some of its excess furniture, antiques, art work, vintage toys and more. The Friends of the Eckhart Public Library has partnered with the Reppert Auction School to conduct the online and in person benefit auction. All proceeds from the sale will benefit The Friends of the Eckhart Public Library. Other items in the sale include lighting, a large collection of folding chairs and American Girl dolls. The auction at Kruse Plaza will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31. The auction, in collaboration with The Friends of Eckhart Public Library and Worldwide Auctioneers, will give Reppert Auction School Class 259 students the opportunity to launch their careers in auctioneering while helping to raise money for the library.

Chamber adds three to board

AUBURN — The DeKalb Chamber Partnership has added three new board members — Pete Kempf, Chad Sutton and Matt Faber — to fill seats left vacant by terms ending and resignations earlier this year. Kempf serves as a financial adviser for Credent Wealth Management. He previously worked as the head of the Business and Vocational Department, head football coach, Baron Television director and educator at DeKalb High School. Kempf is a Wabash College graduate with degrees in history, education and psychology. He earned an Master of Business Administration degree from Western Governors University. He serves the community as a member of the Rotary Club and with the Friends of the Eckhart Public Library. He and his wife, Jackie, have two daughters, Rowan and Lottie, and a son, Peter the 7th.
