Costa Rica gains full World Lacrosse membership

World Lacrosse has elevated the Costa Rica Lacrosse Sporting Federation to full membership of the global governing body.
The World Lacrosse Development Committee recommended that Costa Rica s membership be upgraded, and the Board of Directors unanimously approved the motion.
It means that Costa Rica can have a voting delegate at the Word Lacrosse General Assembly, and its national teams are eligible to win World Championships.
Walter Rojas, President of the Costa Rica Lacrosse Sporting Federation, said the development represents a great leap to lacrosse in Costa Rica and is a recognition of the very hard work of our administrative team and players alike. ....

World Lacrosse announced the new dates for the 2022 U-21 men s world championship as Aug. 10-20, 2022 in Limerick, Ireland.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. World Lacrosse confirmed today the new dates for the 2022 World Lacrosse Men’s U21 World Championship, which will be staged August 10-20, 2022 in Limerick, Ireland at the University of Limerick.
The new dates were approved by the World Lacrosse Board of Directors following a review of possible dates and consultation with the member-National Governing Bodies expected to send teams. The World Lacrosse Men’s U21 World Championship will be hosted by Ireland Lacrosse, the National Governing Body for lacrosse in Ireland. ....

1. New World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship Dates Announced
The World Championship will now be held June 29-July 9, 2022 in Towson, Md. on the campus of Towson University. The dates were confirmed by a unanimous vote of the World Lacrosse Board of Directors during its monthly meeting on Tuesday.
2. Alyssa Murray potential G.O.A.T.
A member of the U.S. Team since 2014 and a two-time Tewaaraton finalist at Syracuse, Murray is one of 24 athletes in the running for the “Greatest Athlete of All Time” award from The World Games. The voting begins Friday, January 8. ....

At its December 10 meeting, the World Lacrosse Board of Directors unanimously approved the proposed selection criteria for women’s lacrosse in TWG 2022, after which the criteria was submitted and approved by the International World Games Association. World Lacrosse used the following criteria in determining selection:

Greencastle, Ind. - Anne Moelk, DePauw head women s lacrosse coach, is among six individuals appointed to the World Lacrosse s newly-formed Women in Sport Commission. One of three new commissions created by the organization headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Women in Sport Commission joins the Diversity and Opportunity Commission as well as the Ethics Commission with the expectation that each will make important contributions to the continued growth of lacrosse worldwide while expanding the capabilities and expertise of the international federation.
As our international federation continues to grow, it is important we find ways to bring new voices and fresh thinking into our organization, particularly as we look to meet the opportunities and challenges that are before us, said World Lacrosse President Sue Redfern.
