IOC Executive Board Recommends Granting Full Recognition to World Lacrosse

On Nov. 30, 2018, World Lacrosse (though it was still known at that time as the Federation of International Lacrosse) received provisional recognition from the International Olympic Committee. It was an essential step toward inclusion in future Games, and the timing was imperative as the IOC has since slowed or ceased granting recognition to new federations.
On Thursday, World Lacrosse took a similar step forward as the IOC Executive Board recommended full recognition for the entity. Now the IOC Membership vote is all that remains, and that could come as soon as next month.

South African Lacrosse Becomes 69th Member Nation of World Lacrosse

COLORADO SPRINGS   World Lacrosse is today welcoming the South African Lacrosse Association as the 69th member of the rapidly growing international federation for men’s and women’s lacrosse.
The application for membership from the South African Lacrosse Association (SALA) was approved by the World Lacrosse (WL) Development Committee, Board of Directors and through a vote of delegates representing WL member-National Governing Bodies.
SALA becomes the fourth World Lacrosse member from the Continent of Africa, joining the Ghana Lacrosse Association, Kenya Lacrosse Association and Uganda Lacrosse Association. In the last six months, the Kenya Lacrosse Association and Uganda Lacrosse Association have been elevated to Full Member status within World Lacrosse, which means National Teams from Kenya and Uganda are now eligible to advance to the medal rounds in World Championship competition and the NGBs will have a voting delegate in ....

World Lacrosse promotes Kenya and Philippines to full membership
World Lacrosse has promoted Kenya and the Philippines to full members of the governing body.
Both the Kenya Lacrosse Association and the Philippines Lacrosse Association will now be able to send a voting delegate to the World Lacrosse General Assembly.
National sides from each country will also be eligible to progress to the championship bracket at World Championship events, meaning they will be able to battle for medals.
The decision to promote both countries was recommended by the World Lacrosse Development Committee.
Kenya becomes the second full member from Africa after Uganda. ....
