TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A days-long search for a javelina entangled in a trap finally came to an end Wednesday and the little peccary, freed.
Officials with the Arizona Game and Fish Department searched for the animal since Saturday, March 27, 2021, according to a tweet from the agency.
But, with help from Oracle locals and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the AZGFD team was able to capture the javelina, take off the bothersome trap around its snout, treat it with some antibiotics then set it on its way. ....

The U.S. has green-lighted the sale of Javelin FGM-148 missiles and related equipment for $36 million.
The Government of Norway has requested to buy 120 Javelin FGM-148 Missiles; and two Javelin FGM-148 Missiles Fly to Buy. Also included are 24 Javelin Block 1 Command Launch Units (CLUs) retrofit kits; spare parts; publications and technical documentation; personnel training; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistical and program support.
The prime contractors will be Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture of Orlando, Florida, and Tucson, Arizona. ....

Combining both powerful Javelin and Stinger systems is creating a potent anti-drone defense.
A recent feat shows how networking threat-detecting radar technologies can help win on the battlefield. Army ground gunners recently destroyed a drone target with a Stinger missile fired from a new Raytheon-built sensor-targeting unit. One of the impressive things is that the sensor-targeting unit was initially designed for the Javelin anti-tank weapon, not the Stinger.
The Stinger missile, which has a long history of hitting enemy helicopters and airborne threats, was shot out of the Javelin’s Lightweight Command Launch Unit (LWCLU) at Eglin Air Force Base, bringing new tactical dimensions to ground-based drone defense. It was a first, as it introduces the ability to leverage the new sensor, range and targeting technologies built into the LWCLU. ....

On March 16, 2021, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the Pentagon’s top arms broker, announced that the U.S. State Department has cleared a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Norway of Javelin FGM-148 man-
portable anti-tank missile systems and related equipment for an estimated cost of $36 million.
The U.S. State Department has approved the possible sale to Norway of one hundred twenty Javelin FGM-148 Missiles and two Javelin FGM-148 Missiles Fly to Buy.
The announcements say that the complete package will also include are twenty-four Javelin Block 1 Command Launch Units (CLUs) retrofit kits; spare parts; publications and technical documentation; personnel training; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistical and program support. ....
