A small bear climbed a utility pole in southern Arizona, forcing the local power company to shut off electricity until the beast climbed down.

DOUGLAS, Ariz. A southern Arizona highway was partially closed Sunday morning after a bear climbed a utility pole.
The Arizona Department of Game and Fish said that Highway 191 near Douglas was partially closed for a short time while authorities from several agencies coaxed the bears to come down.
About two dozen people were watching as the bear climbed down on its own.
Authorities from the Douglas Police Department, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and Border Patrol all helped shoo the bear away and the roadway was reopened.

DOUGLAS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Bear with us as part of U.S. Highway 191 was briefly closed last Sunday after a bear climbed a power pole.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFDP) in Tucson shared photos of a bear that had climbed two utility poles. AzFamily reported police received a call about a bear sighting near East 12th Street and G Avenue. A police officer said, It was up on one pole, then came down and went up a second one nearby.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Officials with the Arizona Game and Fish Department want people to be bear aware as they explore the state’s great outdoors.
In the last week, hikers reported bears in Madera Canyon, Elgin and in Thatcher, according to a tweet from the department. Officials urge hikers, campers and anyone outside to make sure their food and garbage are safely locked away from animals to avoid an unwanted encounter. ....

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A days-long search for a javelina entangled in a trap finally came to an end Wednesday and the little peccary, freed.
Officials with the Arizona Game and Fish Department searched for the animal since Saturday, March 27, 2021, according to a tweet from the agency.
But, with help from Oracle locals and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the AZGFD team was able to capture the javelina, take off the bothersome trap around its snout, treat it with some antibiotics then set it on its way. ....
