An Australian woman has opened up about having to constantly prove her intelligence because she is a blonde cheerleader - despite also being a scientist.

Ms Hope was last Friday presented with the Dr Margaret Gardiner Scholarship for Medical Research for her work studying treatments for a rare type of breast cancer.
