An Australian woman has opened up about having to constantly prove her intelligence because she is a blonde cheerleader - despite also being a scientist. Ashleigh Hope is an honours student and research assistant at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute, when she is not pursuing her other passion of dancing. Ms Hope was last Friday presented with the Dr Margaret Gardiner Scholarship for Medical Research for her work studying treatments for a rare type of breast cancer.
