Public Transport stakeholders want the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) under General Mohamed Badi to double the parking fee of private vehicles rather than ban matatus in Nairobi CBD.
Matatu Welfare Association (MWA) chairperson Dickson Mbugua argued that private vehicles were the cause of congestion in the city. He lamented that the cars carried fewer passengers as compared to matatus. Increasing the parking fees from Ksh 200 to Ksh 400 will thus discourage private motorists from parking or driving their vehicles to CBD, Mbugua proposed.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) took over the collection of revenue from City Hall after former governor Mike Sonko signed the deed of transfer and shared power with the national government. KRA collects parking fees on behalf of NMS with motorists paying through unified payment short code (USSD) 647#.

Summary
Despite several crackdowns the gangs have continued to wreck water infrastructure across the capital, plunging entire estates into scarcity.
In the latest crackdown in 2019, City Hall unearthed 1,834 illegal water connections and arrested and prosecuted 232 people.
Most of the illegal connections were discovered in Githurai, Zimmerman, Kasarani, Mwiki, Kiamaiko, Huruma, Kariobangi North and South, Mathare North, Baba Dogo, Kayole, Tassia, Embakasi, Kware ward and Imara Daima.

Passengers using the Nairobi Commuter Train Service experienced a delay on Wednesday, January 6 after one of the trains stalled.
The commuter train from Embakasi heading to Nairobi s Central Business District (CBD) stalled at the Makadara station at around 11 a.m.
The train had stalled on the mainline just after the Makadara Station which caused delays to other trains as it blocked the route to town.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a commuter who was in one of the trains that were caught up in the delay narrated the experience.

It appears that business in Nairobi has a tribe. Mtu wa mahindi’(roasted maize seller) is likely to come from Murang’a and therefore will be a Kikuyu. There is no prize for guessing which community leads in panel beating or crafting the best furniture.
