Applications now being taken for Little Miss ALWS Pageant

After being cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus, the Little Miss American Legion World Series Pageant will return this fall as part of the 7th Inning Stretch Festival in 2015.
Though the local ALWS committee felt it necessary to cancel the festival for the second consecutive year because of virus concerns, members decided that two smaller festival-related events - the pageant and the 5K - could be revived for 2021 without creating health or safety issues.
Girls from infants through 12 years old will compete for nine positions as queens, each one assigned to a regional team as a goodwill ambassador. ....

COVID concerns cancel 7th Inning Stretch festival for 2021

The fate of this year’s American Legion World Series remains to be determined, but organizers have decided to cancel the popular 7th Inning Stretch Festival that is held each year in Shelby in connection with the tournament.
“After much consideration, the American Legion World Series organizers have decided to cancel the 2021 7th Inning Stretch Festival,” read a statement from the American Legion National Headquarters.
The festival, which features a 5K, Little Miss ALWS Pageant, booths, food, games and music including a well-known headliner, was created when the American Legion World Series made Shelby its home.
It gives players, their families and locals a chance to let down their hair and celebrate summer. ....
